Southwark Council sets term dates for the area’s maintained schools, published via its official term dates page. The borough was formed in 1965 by merging the former metropolitan boroughs of Southwark, Camberwell and Bermondsey, and is linked to the City of London and Tower Hamlets by several Thames bridges. Department for Education data shows around 45% of Southwark’s schools are academies overall, rising to 90% at secondary level, while primary conversion is lower, at around 32%.
