Camden Council sets term dates for the area’s maintained schools, published via its official term dates page. Camden stands out as one of the least academised areas in the country: Department for Education data shows only around 8% of the borough’s schools are academies, among the lowest rates anywhere on this site, with schools and the council having consistently favoured staying under local authority control rather than converting. That means the vast majority of Camden families will be dealing with the council directly on term dates and INSET days, rather than an academy trust. As with most local authorities, these dates apply directly to maintained schools; the small number of academies in the borough may set their own calendar, so it’s worth checking with your child’s school directly if they attend one. See our guide to why academies and maintained schools have different dates for more on how this works elsewhere.
