Torbay Council sets term dates for the area’s maintained schools, published via its official term dates page. Torbay became a unitary authority in 1998, splitting from Devon County Council under the same structural change order that created Plymouth’s independence in the same year; the borough covers Torquay, Paignton and Brixham. Department for Education data shows around 85% of Torbay’s schools are academies overall, though the rate at secondary level, 75%, is lower than in several neighbouring South West authorities.
