Hull City Council sets term dates for the area’s maintained schools, published via its official term dates page. Kingston upon Hull became a unitary authority in 1996 when the short-lived county of Humberside was abolished, having been its largest settlement and only city; Hull now sets its own education policy entirely independently of the surrounding East Riding. Department for Education data shows around 99% of Hull’s schools are academies, effectively 100% at both primary and secondary level, one of the highest and most complete academy conversions found anywhere on this site. Because of this, parents in Hull should check directly with their child’s school for term dates and INSET days, since academies set their own calendar independently of the council.
