2027-2028 Term Dates

Not yet published: Term dates for 2027-2028 have not yet been published for South Tyneside. We will add them here once the local authority confirms them.
About these dates: Term dates for South Tyneside apply to maintained schools. Academies and free schools may set their own dates. Always confirm with your school directly before making plans.

South Tyneside Council sets term dates for the area’s maintained schools, published via its official term dates page. South Tyneside has been a metropolitan borough since 1974 and has run its own services independently since the Tyne and Wear county council was abolished in 1986. Department for Education data shows academy conversion here is close to an even split between school types, at around 47% overall, with primary, at 47%, and secondary, at 50%, much closer together than in most neighbouring boroughs. As with most local authorities, these dates apply directly to maintained schools; academies may set their own calendar, so it’s worth checking with your child’s school directly. See our guide to why academies and maintained schools have different dates for more on how this works.
